If you are unable to attend this SITES event but are interested in getting involved with the SITES Collaborative please contact Brent at bsuski@usgbc.org. On February 13th, join two practitioners as they dive into the SITES v2 rating system, the first rating system that is available to the public for use on any project to pursue certification as a sustainable landscape. The presentation will walk through the basic principles of the SITES system, review a few v2 certified projects, and discuss recent experience utilizing the rating system on a Federal project.

Following the presentation will be a brief introduction to the kick off for the USGBC West North Central SITES Collaborative group.

This program qualifies for 1 GBCI SITES Specific CE and 1 AIA LU/HSW CE.

Each year, the ASLA-MN chapter embraces a theme to encourage continued education, innovation, and inspiration throughout the profession. This year’s theme focuses on gathering, advertising for, and fostering a new perspective and approach to our design processes.

THEME
In an era of short attention spans and tech zombies; of highly-polarized opinions, and little patience for ideas or more deeply engage the communities we work with, striving to create stronger, in-depth, engaged designs that not only elevate the profession, but more importantly connect, heal, and elevate the communities they exist within?

AUDIENCE
The conference audience consists primarily of landscape architect professionals with diverse backgrounds and includes entry-level design associates to senior level project managers and corporate executives. Entrepreneurs and educators will also be in attendance. Presentation content and instruction should be geared to a level that is appropriate for the target audience.

PROPOSAL CRITERIA
A presentation proposal consists of the presentation abstract and speaker(s) bio submitted via our online form. The abstract shall be maximum 500 words long. PRESENTATION CRITERIA
Speakers are required to craft 45-60 minute presentations relevant to the conference theme that are hands-on, educational, interactive, creative, dynamic, and feature best practices in planning and landscape architecture. The presentation timeframe includes introductions, presentation material, question and answer session, and summary evaluation.

PRESENTER BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
Presenters’ conference registration fees are complimentary. Registration includes access to all presentations and/ or workshops, breakfast, lunch, and (1) complimentary ticket to the ASLA-MN 2018 Awards Banquet that takes place in the evening after the Education Conference. All presenters will be reimbursed $10 for conference parking. If you will be traveling from outside the Twin Cities metro area, submit draft expenses for travel and lodging to be considered as part of the presentation proposal package.
