This scholarship fund was established by the WILA to strengthen landscape architectural practice by fostering racial and ethnic diversity in our profession. Because we know that diverse groups of creative problem solvers consistently outperform homogenous groups, our profession needs to include individuals from diverse backgrounds so that we can successfully address complex issues like climate change and social justice.

Eligible applicants must be graduate students in the UMN MLA program and represent economically disadvantaged and/or under-represented groups in our field. In Minnesota, these groups include African American, Latino/a, Native American, and people with experience as a refugee.
