FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 2012 Saint Paul, MN – Christopher James Ochs, ASLA, APA, landscape designer and project manager for a local landscape design-build company and current Planning Commissioner for the City of Saint Paul, was appointed to serve on the Transportation Committee in January of 2012. The Transportation Committee was established in 2010 by the city Planning Commission at the direction of the Mayor and City Council. The committee advises the Planning Commission on transportation planning and project decisions to help better integrate land use and transportation decisions as they relate to zoning, neighborhood and comprehensive planning, and infrastructure investments. The committee consists of four planning commissioners and several community members representing the interests of business, various modes of transit, pedestrian, bicyclist, accessibility, and the freight and logistics industry. (City of Saint Paul, http://www.stpaul.gov/index.aspx?NID=3754) The Saint Paul Planning Commission is a twenty-one member advisory body appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. Members serve three-year terms and may be reappointed up to nine years. Mr. Ochs continues to serve on the Neighborhood Planning Committee in addition to the recent appointment to the Transportation Committee. Christopher Ochs has been recognized with multiple residential design awards by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association and was awarded the HWS Cleveland Award by the American Society of Landscape Architects-MN chapter for demonstrating the potential to be a leader in the profession. Ochs chose a career in landscape architecture following a ten year career in freight transportation. His broad knowledge of the ecological, urban and rural landscapes is based on his experience in the built environment and numerous travels in the U.S. and abroad. He currently practices landscape design for Windsor Companies, designing and managing residential and commercial landscape projects. Mr. Ochs earned Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Urban and Regional Planning degrees from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. ### |
