Promenade of Wayzata

LHB

AWARD YEAR | 2020

ENTRY CATEGORY | General Design

LOCATION | Wayzata, MN

The Promenade of Wayzata demonstrates how landscape architects can help communities create places that are socially, economically, and ecologically transformative. Once a blighted strip mall surrounded by a parking lot, new streets divide the 14-acre site into six blocks, focused on welcoming places to walk and gather, including event spaces, occupiable green roofs, and a variety of streets and sidewalks. Innovative features throughout the project improve the quality of water that eventually flows into Lake Minnetonka. After more than a decade of planning, design, and construction, the landscape architects helped the client and community realize their vision and surpass expectations.
