MPRB North Service Area Master Plan

CONFLUENCE

AWARD YEAR | 2020

ENTRY CATEGORY | Planning + Urban Design

LOCATION | Minneapolis, MN

The North Service Area Master Plan creates long-term, community-driven design visions for 34 parks in the city’s only majority minority quadrant. It is the result of more than 18 months of community engagement featuring 100+ events ranging from formal meetings to community design workshops to partnerships with local groups. The north side faces health and economic challenges greater than the city and state as a whole. Parks can be a key part of solving these societal disparities—but only if people visit. This project sets a vision for remaking the parks in the image of the community that surrounds them.
